What is NLP?

What you believe can be extremely powerful: studies have shown that if you believe that you’re ill and going to die, the chances of that actually happening are higher. Likewise, if you believe that you have been given a pill that will make you better, your health is much more likely to improve (placebo effect).

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), provides practical ways in which you can change the way that you think, view past events, and approach your life so rather than your mind controlling your life, you control your own mind.

Your thoughts, feelings and emotions are not things that are, or that you have, but things that you do. Their causes can often be very complicated and deep-rooted, most likely reaching as far back as your early years (comments or projections from your parents or teachers, or events that you have experience.

NLP shows you how you can take control of these beliefs and influences. Using perceptual, behavioural, and communication techniques, you can change the way that you think and feel about past events, fears and even phobias.

NLP is founded on the idea that people operate by internal “maps” of the world that they learn through sensory experiences. NLP tries to detect and modify unconscious biases or limitations of an individual’s map of the world. Unlike hypnotherapy, it operates through the conscious use of language to bring about changes in someone’s thoughts and behaviour.
